Evacuation.
MISSION START
It's taken a while, but for all intents and purposes, you seem to be back on track; the town you've been sent to investigate isn't far off now. Beyond a crest, just down one of the wooded hills; as you make your way, the strange wildlife watches you. Nothing much. Just one of those deer.
You get the feeling that something always seems to be watching you nowadays. This feeling isn't wrong.
The top of that hillcrest will reveal the town itself, sprawling out below in your line of sight; however, it will soon become obvious that there's something deeply wrong with it. What you're seeing and what you know of the town tell two completely different stories; it's up to you to decide which you believe.
But what your eyes are telling you is that the town is overgrown, the forest reclaiming it for its own – the streets are cracked and broken, grass and shoots of flowers poking up from the roads and the pavement; the ground is thick with fallen leaves, and the buildings seem to have a bright yellow moss growing over them in places. There are residences that seem oddly undisturbed, as though their occupants simply disappeared all at once; given that the town was allegedly evacuated, perhaps that stands to reason.
What doesn't is that this level of growth would take more than a week or two to develop. Maybe you'll find survivors. Maybe you won't. It's worth looking around, either way.
Perhaps it'll be worth your while, in the end.

Except it also makes him nervous to have this on him, but, the sacrifices he makes....
Napalm? Get! ]

I found some interesting books - including a diary written by the owner of this house - but other than that, nothing. What kind of supplies did you manage to obtain?
[...
are those bombs, because they certainly look like it]

[ Yeah, he doesn't... feel too great about this and doesn't sound it either. ]
We shouldn't use that unless absolutely necessary. I also got a knives and ropes and batteries, in case we need to restock our flashlights and other electronics. That's... a lot more immediately useful.

I've never heard of Napalm, but judging by your reaction I'm going to assume it's rather nasty.
[Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, considering where they are, but still. She can understand his reservations.]
I can carry some of that, if you like [-she'd also like to grab a knife for herself, so-]. I don't think there's anything else worth looking at down here, and we haven't found any evidence of survivors. Perhaps we should go and find the others.

[ Please, least time he took too much weight onto a track he fucked up his leg and nearly got left behind. He is all for carrying less, though he'll certainly carry more if it helps prove a point. ]
And Napalm is... highly flammable. And when I say 'highly' that is an understatement. In the absolute emergency we can use it to root out an area, but I'd prefer to keep it contained unless we absolutely need it.

[...right! Well, she'll just. be handling those canisters with a bit more reverence, once that's out there. Properly cushioning them in her pack, etc. The knife is good to have, though; as much as she loves her guns, they're fairly useless in close quarters. This will at least give her the chance to fight back if she's surprised.
Once all is organised, she lifts her pack back onto her back and takes out her handgun again. Even though they've already cleared the way to the door....no sense in taking chances.]
Shall we?

[ They haven't heard any screams but considering the general weirdness of the situation, that really doesn't instill him with confidence either. The sooner the whole group gets back together, the better for all of them. ]
It would almost be comforting to find an enemy we can simply shoot.
