WEEK FOUR
FOURTH WEEK
The Shimmer may have left you physically, but it's always with you; it's something it had insisted on yesterday, and it's something that continues to be pervasive even now, both in thoughts and within you in other, perhaps more noticeable ways. The statements that have been made weigh heavily; your surroundings continue to be influenced by something or other - plants you recognize are still present here, even as the trees themselves continue to crystallize, growing glassy white and transparent around mechanical insides - and the changes to your physical bodies are becoming more evident and difficult to ignore.
Perhaps more disturbingly, when you went to sleep in the clearing there were sixteen of you.
When you wake up, there are fifteen.
No matter how many headcounts you take, you keep coming up one short; the fact of the matter is that Rean Schwarzer is no longer among you. There's no visible evidence of where he's gone, and all of his belongings are still here; perhaps in some part of your mind, the possibility registers itself - maybe he's not with you because he went to the Shimmer. Not in the same way the cultists went, and not in the same way the ring of bodies seems to have gone, but maybe...
The thought is difficult to shake; the fact of the matter is that he isn't here, and you probably don't want to stay here. After all, your options are currently either to do what you set out to do, to return to the base and very possibly be killed for your efforts, or to remain here with the corpses.
The hike uphill is steep; perhaps it's fortunate that you're no longer tiring out like you used to. It's easier to keep going nowadays, even if it feels somewhat mechanical in doing so; your limbs know what they're doing, even if there's some reason for your mind to disagree. You seem to be making good time in moving toward the site of the initial impact of the meteorite; perhaps it won't be much longer before you find your objective.
That is, if all goes according to plan.

Anyway, Rideaux's following here since he suggested the same thing, so. He'll scan the shelves for anything remaining, but welp. ]
Well, that's a disappointment.

Looks like this place was already raided.
[Depending on when he says this, his voice coming out from the storefront window might startle others. He did climb in while everyone was debating, after all.
Anyways, this revelation probably isn't a surprise, given how smashed in the windows were. Opening the refrigerated units and poking at the displays reveals nothing of interest.
Time to check out that back counter, then.]

That's not really the interesting thing back here, though. This general store also had a fair amount of medical supplies stored here in the back - you can still find some pill bottles, though nothing that would be particularly useful. All of the useful supplies are gone, you won't even find bandages to loot. There aren't even any super niche supplies here, since this was just a general store.
It's also worth noting that there isn't any dried blood to be found here, and no bodies as well. You won't even see any of those strange tree-people! So at least there's that?]

[Disappointing, but not exactly surprising, either...]
They really cleaned this place out, huh...
[He'll let Felicia be the judge of whatever useless medical supplies remain, Yusei himself is more interested in the smashed up cash register. It really took a beating there, huh? The fact that it managed to somehow keep closed is...well, honestly kind of impressive.
That being said he's actually going to try and take a crack at it, because Yusei focuses on the most useless things sometimes.]

[ He'll check out that back room some too. Might as well grab one or two few pill bottles, honestly. Any jars or anything back there? ]

[At least he's taking this ridiculousness in stride...
Well, if the buttons are smashed...let's see if he can try and take them out! If the buttons can't do their job then Yusei can sure try to get his fingers or tools in the button holes instead.
Probably.]

Alright, then he'll just try and see if he can wedge something into the cash drawer to prise it out that way. If there's even the slightest of gaps, maybe he can hit the latch keeping it shut like that.]

I suppose that isn't unexpected, but you've got that right...
[...She does look to the counter though.]
Maybe there's something behind there the counter that we can get a closer look at?
[Felicia's gonna go follow Yusei into counter hell, if nobody minds! Maybe something good will happen.]
