Visions.
LANDSCAPES.
The further in you go, the thicker the calcification becomes.
The crystals on the walls are difficult to make out now, having been encased entirely by thick white growths encompassing the walls like spider veins, like roots; their energy, however, can still be felt if you wander too close to the walls, or if you spend too long recovering yourself after something sufficiently stressful has come into your line of view. This may be more for a problem for some of you than it is for others; some of you are holding up surprisingly well, all things considered.
It isn't a failing on your part, when it hits you.
It's hard to say precisely what "it" is - a sudden fatigue, a seizure, an abrupt swirling of the world beneath your feet; all you know is that you're here, and then you aren't anywhere, and it takes a moment to place what brought the feeling on, or even what the feeling itself is. It will come to you eventually, however, once your eyes refocus and the cavern comes into view again for you properly - it feels like that first week you were here. Like reawakening after a long stint asleep; like being disoriented after realizing that you're not where you should be.
The difference this time is that you are, for all intents and purposes, still where you should be.
You don't seem to have gone anywhere; it doesn't feel like you've lost that much time, even, if you've lost any at all. But the fact of the matter is that something feels different, and it feels wrong, and placing how proves to be difficult.
There's a bend in the path, and suddenly it becomes all too clear.
You aren't supposed to be here, are you?
This place can be anything and everything - the hallway in the upper floor of your house, the bar you frequent, that place where all your comrades are buried. What matters is that it's somewhere you weren't sure you would see again, but the fact of it is that you're seeing it here, and you're seeing it now, and perhaps some of the others with you are seeing it too. Perhaps there are others here, those that have been on your mind for the past few days; perhaps you're all alone outside of whomever is questionably fortunate enough to be experiencing this with you.
Whatever you're seeing, however, something remains present in your mind, driving you onward and encouraging you to move through this, and quickly.
You don't belong here.
You need to leave.
[OOC: Welcome to the first half of our week 5 event! For this portion of the event, the hallucinations you've experienced up until now have become far more thoroughly immersive, and can be seen or experienced by others in something akin to a shared dream-state. These visions are likely to delict something from your world that you would find familiar and would have some sort of attachment to, whether that attachment is positive or negative. Monsters or other people from your world can be present here and interacted with, to deal with as you see fit; fighting them or speaking to them are both fair game. Conversely, your personal experience may be exploring or revisiting an area of your world that may or may not be how you remember it...
Please note that the mods will not be NPCing any characters in your visions or answering questions specific to the environments that you create. However, you are free to create as you see fit; time and space have very little meaning here, and your only limitations to your character's personal illusion/dreamscapes are your own creativity. Feel free to post any prompts you may want to play with, and to tag out to others to experience whatever they want to show you. (However, it is worth noting that any physical items you find in the visions will not remain in their possession afterwards.) As always, if you have any more questions about how works, let us know!]

I think so. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but I doubt we would have ended up back in your world somehow. So all of this is probably a much more extreme version of those illusions we've been seeing all week.
Still, I don't know if it's a good idea to risk angering anyone here...
[Less because he thinks the Shimmer will do anything and more because Garma may actually die.]
no subject
I'd rather not run into any more imitations of my family at all. I'd been thinking it many times through the week, that I want to see them, but... not like this. This is a farce. It has to be.

[...]
So I wouldn't take anything they say here too seriously, ja? The Shimmer may be doing this to upset us.
But with that said... I suppose I'm not really sure how to escape this. What do you think we should do?
[Avoiding the rest of Garma's family is probably for the best, but maybe they were placed here for a reason. It's hard to say.]
no subject
[ It'd be strange if it was only the two of them stuck here - though Garma can't understand why they'd be brought to Zum City to begin with. ]
Let's score the city, shall we? If it's your first time in space, that at least has some novelty.
no subject
[Lead the way, Garma!]
no subject
Until they get a little further down and a funeral procession of black cars passes by own the street. Garma stops dead in his tracks. ]
Something's wrong. I've... I'm sure I've seen this funeral before.
no subject
The funeral procession is definitely different; we don't exactly have cars in Terca Lumireis.]
Oh? What do you mean? Who was this funeral for?
no subject
Zeon Zum Deikun...
[ You know, Zeon. Like the country we are in. ]
--yeager, we need to step ba--
[ And then there is a massive bang as one of the cars just bursts into flames. It's not close enough to hurt them, but they can certainly feel the heat and the shockwave. ]
no subject
He doesn't get long to ponder that, because suddenly there's an explosion, and good lord that was a little close for comfort.]
Oh dear.
[That's... a bit of an understatement, but sure. You doing okay there, Garma...?]
no subject
This...
[ Garma forcefully attempts to get himself together, ban any shaking from his voice. ]
This is the assassination of my brother Sasro. Twelve years ago. Why... why are we here?
no subject
Your brother...
[Ohhhh boy. Looks like the Shimmer's going hard today.]
This is only speculation mind you, but... this is likely the Shimmer's doing. If this is a place it created out of your memories, then it could change it as it sees fit. Maybe it wants to show you painful things like this?
[Maybe the Shimmer doesn't fight with weapons and explosives, maybe this is how it chooses to defend itself.]
no subject
Possibly...
[ Garma's eyes are fixed on the yelling man. ]
That's... that's Dozle, by the way. Another sibling of mine.
[ You're only missing one now, if we count the dead body of Sasro as having been 'met'. ]
I think... this may be a lesson?
no subject
A lesson? What do you mean?
no subject
[ He says, still staring into the flames of what used to be a family member. ]
When I panicked, that day, Kycilia chastised me. I am a man of house Zabi. Even here, even faced with this, I cannot show weakness.
This is... a reminder. The Shimmer must be dragging it up from the depths of my mind somehow.
no subject
I underestimated just how difficult it was to be raised in such an environment.
[He thought it was some kind of superiority complex; a need to be just as good if not better than his siblings and not... well, this.]
It must have been difficult to hear that you couldn't panic, even in the face of a death like this.
no subject
Nobody thinks it's difficult. And I know that in a lot of ways it isn't - I get everything I ask for, while there are so many citizens of Zeon still in poverty.
[ He is spoiled. Everyone tells him so and if they don't, he can see them think it. And it follows him around, no matter how hard he tries at anything. ]
I was 11 when this happened. I think about it a lot. ...probably more than I think about Sasro.
[ Poor Sasro, forgotten, safe for the inferno he went down in. ]
no subject
[He was just a kid when this happened, and it's obvious that Garma's still got some problems with it, if this is what the Shimmer's chosen to show him.]
no subject
It is only to be expected... One can't choose one's circumstances of birth. I understand why I was raised this way. There wasn't really another option.
It's my lot in life, as everyone has theirs.

[ Coming to the Shimmer was a mistake on many levels, but the people he met aren't half bad. Garma doesn't think he's had this many earnest conversations in forever - or maybe ever. ]
Let's get away from here. No need to watch this miserable scene.

[Where are we headed to next?]
